Normally I have spent most of the last 17 winters in Alaska, but now I spend part of each winter touring and shooting the west coast and driving to the desert southwest. I love the huge variety of natural subjects and how different they are from the scenes I have grown accustomed to in Alaska.

Oh the irony of it all. They call me a snow-bird back home in Anchorage for having left the sub-zero weather of Alaska for sunny California. But today my truck is parked of the side of highway 79, which is closed for 5 to 6 hours, while power line crews clear a tree that fell across the highway and onto the powerlines.
